Pūtahi Park, Whangārei

Pūtahi Park, the new Town Basin is now complete and open to the public. Opened on 11 March 2022, the park provides an important link between Whangārei’s waterfront, the Huarahi o te Whai Hātea Loop Walkway and the central city area.

The public space has been radically transformed and includes an amphitheatre for community events, a balance park, interactive water features, a large kinetic sculpture and a wide array of public furniture supplied by Walkspace.

Working with the Whangārei District Council’s landscape architecture team from an early design and concept phase to completion onsite, Walkspace imparted their knowledge and skill set to develop a suite of bespoke and customised catalogue furniture for this truly unique public space.

Bespoke precast and timber seating, F_03 Double Bins, DF_02 Drinks Fountains, BR_02 Bike Racks and customised F_05 Bollards all perform aesthetically, functionally & ergonomically to achieve a unique, cohesive and clear design language that integrates seamlessly into the wider public space.
