Walkspace have recently completed delivery of bespoke site furniture to the first stage of the Innovation Precinct for the South Frame project in Christchurch. This Otakaro project was designed by Jasmax in collaboration with Landlab with construction by Downer.

The public space, bordering Lichfield, Madras, Tuam and High Streets incorporates Ash Street and Poplar Lane offering the public a unique multi functional space to relax and enjoy, hold markets and food stalls as well cater to outdoor dining.

Vanguard square is a reference to the future as part of the wider Innovation precinct but the site also acknowledges the past. Fourteen reclaimed timber piles from Lyttelton port dominate the squares entrance reflecting the industrial past of the area.

Raised corten planters, paving borders and decking reference the local topographical contours in form and provide social meeting points to relax and eat.

Precast elements also offer further seating options and a fully accessible drinks fountain offers users a place to top up their water bottles.

Again the inclusion of bike racks further reinforces alternative modes of transport to and from the square

Walkspace are proud of the quality results achieved in this exciting public space by all involved and look forward to completing the next stages to the South Frame public realm project.
