The Avon Loop is open and ready to ride, walk and Kayak?
As part of the wider Avon River Precinct project, the project worked to improve access to the Avon River and its green spaces.
Through early public consultation the importance of the Avon to the people of Christchurch was made clear. Previously access to the Avon was limited and sporadic. Through various stages since 2015 Walkspace has worked alongside Otakaro, Matapopore, Landscape Designers and Contractors to design and supply all of the street furniture requirements.
The last link in the chain, the Avon Loop has now been open since February 2020. The link connects the City Promenade to future developments in the residential red zone.
Over two planting periods later this year a further 17,000 new plants will be added further enhancing an already remarkable spot in the city.
